Video Description
On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 3:00PM EDT in Greenfield, Congressman Jim McGovern (D-MA) will host a press conference at the Franklin County Children’s Advocacy Center to announce that he has secured $879,000 in federal Community Project Funding for child sexual abuse prevention. The funding is one of fifteen projects that McGovern secured bipartisan support for in last year’s federal appropriations process, in total delivering $12,986,757 for important projects throughout the region. Local Northampton-based nonprofit Stop It Now! will use the federal funding that McGovern has secured to prevent child sexual abuse before harm occurs by building a stronger child sexual abuse prevention infrastructure in Massachusetts by equipping trusted community partners to have prevention conversations with families, expanding access to evidence-based resources and support, and generating the research and data needed to improve prevention efforts statewide. The funding will also support trainings for youth-serving organizations and parents to help adults recognize early warning signs of child sexual abuse, take protective action, and respond appropriately to keep children safe. Following the press conference, the Congressman will join Stop It Now! staff, community partners, and local leaders for a brief tour of the Franklin County Children’s Advocacy Center.
