In “The Week at State,” President Joseph R. Biden held the first of two Summits for Democracy, on December 9-10, 2021. During the Summit, Vice President Kamala D. Harris, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield joined leaders from government, civil society, and the private sector in our shared effort to set forth an affirmative agenda for democratic renewal and to tackle the greatest threats faced by democracies today through collective action. The United States also provided more than 300 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine worldwide, as we continue to accelerate the delivery of vaccines to combat this pandemic globally and work to meet our commitment to share over 1.2 billion doses with countries around the world.
