Atlanta, GA - February 24, 2024 - Earlier today, a powerful rally took place near the Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta to mark the second anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The event drew a crowd of over 1,000 people and brought together Ukrainians, freedom advocates, and human rights supporters from various communities. Assembled at the corner of Centennial Olympic Park, participants united to honor the memory of the thousands of civilians, including over 560 children, who have lost their lives and the tens of thousands who have been injured since February 2022, according to the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine. Echoing similar sentiments expressed globally, the Atlanta rally served as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle for freedom in Ukraine and the critical need for unwavering support from the international community. Over 50 cities across the United States, including Washington DC and Los Angeles, joined in solidarity with their events, while international capitals also commemorated this solemn occasion. Organized by the Ukrainian Community of Atlanta, in collaboration with a coalition of Ukrainian nonprofit organizations, representatives of religious communities in Georgia, and allies, the rally encompassed a march encircling the Centennial Olympic Park with passionate chants of "Stand with Ukraine!" and "Make Russia Pay!" resonating throughout the gathering.
