Summary of Bill HR 6817
Bill 117 HR 6817, also known as the No Backdoor Gun Control Act of 2022, is a piece of legislation currently being considered in the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to prevent the implementation of gun control measures through executive actions or regulations that bypass the normal legislative process.
The bill specifically prohibits any federal agency or official from using funds to implement or enforce any rule, regulation, or executive order that would restrict the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. It also requires that any proposed gun control measures be subject to the normal legislative process, including debate and approval by Congress.
Supporters of the bill argue that it is necessary to protect the constitutional rights of gun owners and ensure that any proposed gun control measures are subject to proper scrutiny and debate. They believe that allowing gun control measures to be implemented through executive actions or regulations undermines the democratic process. Opponents of the bill argue that it could hinder the ability of the government to respond quickly to emerging threats or issues related to gun violence. They believe that some gun control measures may be necessary to protect public safety and that the normal legislative process can be slow and cumbersome. Overall, Bill 117 HR 6817, the No Backdoor Gun Control Act of 2022, is a controversial piece of legislation that seeks to prevent the implementation of gun control measures through executive actions or regulations. Its fate in Congress remains uncertain as lawmakers continue to debate the issue.
