Today, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), a leading member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, introduced an affordable housing amendment to Republicans’ partisan reconciliation bill. Reed's amendment would take $62 billion that ICE and DHS don't need and put it toward the construction and rehabilitation of 2.1 million affordable homes for Americans.
