Tuesday, February 25, 2025, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), the top Democrat on the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affair Committee will convene a forum to investigate the Trump-Musk Attack on American Consumers. The forum will focus on the consequences of President Trump’s and Elon Musk’s efforts to eliminate the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) - an agency that has returned over $21 billion to families scammed by financial institutions. Panelists for the forum include: -Andrea Campbell, Attorney General of Massachusetts. Just 4 months ago, the CFPB and AG Campbell won a $50M judgment against a scammy, MA-based credit repair company. This company was charging up to $200/month by promising to increase consumers’ credit scores by 90 points in 90 days and scammed consumers out of $32M. -Lorelei Salas, former CFPB Director of Supervision Policy -Stacey McCall, a retired Army veteran of 20 years from Maryland, who was being forced to pay for a Toyota vehicle she couldn’t drive until the CFPB stepped in -Marette Gillen, a mortgage originator from Texas, who has seen firsthand how the CFPB has positively impacted her industry Senator Warren also invited Elon Musk to give him the opportunity to provide a public explanation for his role in preventing the CFPB from protecting families from getting scammed, and to answer questions about his financial interest in dismantling the agency.
