WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.), chairman of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Surface Transportation, Freight, Pipelines, and Safety, will convene a subcommittee hearing on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to examine how new technologies can make U.S. transportation networks safer and more efficient without sacrificing privacy. The hearing will also explore barriers that could hinder the movement of people and goods across the U.S. or our competitiveness with China. Upon announcing the hearing, Senator Young said: “I am fortunate to represent a state with a long history of innovation in transportation. This hearing is a great opportunity to learn more about how we can ensure America continues to lead in the development and deployment of technologies critical to our transportation network.” Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said: “New transportation technologies hold tremendous promise for safely moving goods faster across the country.
