Tax Fairness for Survivors Act
3/12/2025, 2:38 AM
Summary of Bill S 584
Bill 119 s 584, also known as the "Tax Relief for Victims of Sexual Assault and Harassment Act," aims to make changes to the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. The main purpose of this bill is to exclude any judgements, awards, and settlements related to sexual assault or sexual harassment claims from being included in an individual's gross income for tax purposes.
This means that individuals who receive financial compensation as a result of a sexual assault or harassment claim would not have to pay taxes on that money. The bill seeks to provide relief to victims of these crimes by ensuring that they are not financially burdened by having to pay taxes on the compensation they receive.
In addition to excluding these types of payments from gross income, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to tax relief for victims of sexual assault and harassment. Overall, the goal of Bill 119 s 584 is to provide support and assistance to individuals who have experienced sexual assault or harassment by alleviating the tax implications of any financial compensation they may receive as a result of these traumatic experiences.

I can't believe this bill is trying to protect sexual predators from paying taxes on their settlements. It's disgusting that they would even consider this. #NotMyAmerica
