Summary of Bill HR 1687

Bill 119 hr 1687, also known as the Geothermal Steam Act Amendment, aims to make changes to the Geothermal Steam Act of 1970. The main goal of this bill is to increase the frequency of lease sales for geothermal energy resources on federal lands. This means that more opportunities will be available for companies to lease these resources for energy production.

Additionally, the bill also includes a provision that requires replacement sales. This means that if a lease is terminated or expires, the Secretary of the Interior must hold a replacement sale to ensure that the geothermal resources are still being utilized effectively.

Overall, the purpose of this bill is to promote the development of geothermal energy resources on federal lands by increasing lease sales and ensuring that these resources are being utilized efficiently. This could potentially lead to an increase in renewable energy production and help reduce the country's reliance on fossil fuels.
