12/7/2023, 5:06 PM
Summary of Bill S 2469
The ACADEMIC Act of 2023, also known as Bill 118 s 2469, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to address issues related to academic integrity and transparency in higher education institutions.
One key provision of the ACADEMIC Act is the requirement for colleges and universities to establish academic integrity committees. These committees would be responsible for developing and implementing policies to prevent and address academic dishonesty, such as plagiarism and cheating. The bill also calls for the establishment of a national database to track instances of academic misconduct and ensure that students who engage in such behavior are held accountable.
Additionally, the ACADEMIC Act aims to improve transparency in higher education by requiring institutions to provide more detailed information about their academic programs, including graduation rates, job placement rates, and student loan default rates. This information would be made publicly available to help students make more informed decisions about where to pursue their education. Overall, the ACADEMIC Act of 2023 seeks to promote academic integrity and accountability in higher education institutions, while also empowering students with the information they need to make educated choices about their academic and professional futures.
