Deplatform Drug Dealers Act
3/8/2024, 3:15 PM
Summary of Bill HR 4910
Bill 118 hr 4910, also known as the Deplatform Drug Dealers Act, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to combat the illegal sale of drugs on social media platforms and other online marketplaces.
If passed, the Deplatform Drug Dealers Act would require social media companies and other online platforms to take action against users who are found to be selling illegal drugs on their sites. This could include removing the user's account, blocking their access to the platform, or taking other appropriate measures to prevent them from continuing to sell drugs online.
The bill also includes provisions to increase cooperation between law enforcement agencies and online platforms in order to more effectively identify and prosecute individuals who are selling drugs online. This could involve sharing information about suspected drug dealers, providing access to user data, or other forms of collaboration to help law enforcement agencies track down and arrest those responsible for selling illegal drugs online. Overall, the Deplatform Drug Dealers Act is aimed at reducing the availability of illegal drugs on the internet and making it more difficult for drug dealers to operate online. By holding online platforms accountable for the illegal activities of their users and increasing cooperation between law enforcement and online platforms, this bill seeks to make it harder for drug dealers to reach potential customers through social media and other online channels.
