Summary of Bill HR 2777

Bill 118 hr 2777, also known as the School Meals during School Closures Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to ensure that students who rely on school meals for nutrition are still able to access these meals during school closures, such as those caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bill proposes to provide funding to schools and other institutions that participate in the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. This funding would allow these institutions to continue providing meals to students even when schools are closed. The bill also includes provisions for flexibility in meal service, allowing for alternative meal distribution methods such as grab-and-go meals or delivery services.

Additionally, the bill aims to address food insecurity among students by expanding eligibility for free and reduced-price meals during times of school closures. This would ensure that more students have access to nutritious meals, regardless of their family's financial situation. Overall, the School Meals during School Closures Act seeks to support students and families during challenging times by ensuring that access to nutritious meals is maintained even when schools are closed.
