Summary of Bill HR 1649
The EAGLE Act of 2023, also known as Bill 118 hr 1649, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress aimed at addressing various issues related to immigration and foreign policy. The bill focuses on providing a pathway to citizenship for certain undocumented immigrants, enhancing border security measures, and promoting economic development in Central American countries.
One of the key provisions of the EAGLE Act is the establishment of a new visa program that would allow certain undocumented immigrants who meet specific criteria to apply for legal status and eventually become US citizens. This program would provide a pathway for individuals who have been in the country for a certain period of time, have no criminal record, and meet other requirements to obtain legal status.
In addition to addressing immigration issues, the EAGLE Act also includes measures to enhance border security, such as increasing funding for border patrol agents and technology, as well as improving infrastructure at ports of entry. The bill also aims to address the root causes of migration from Central American countries by providing economic assistance and promoting development in the region. Overall, the EAGLE Act of 2023 is a comprehensive piece of legislation that seeks to address immigration issues while also promoting economic development and enhancing border security. It is currently being debated in Congress and may undergo changes before being voted on.
