Empower Parents to Protect Their Kids Act of 2022
12/29/2022, 5:18 PM
Summary of Bill HR 8170
Bill 117 HR 8170, also known as the Empower Parents to Protect Their Kids Act of 2022, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to give parents more control over the content that their children are exposed to in schools.
One of the key provisions of the bill is the requirement for schools to provide parents with detailed information about the curriculum being taught, including any controversial or sensitive topics. This would allow parents to make informed decisions about their child's education and have a say in what their child is learning.
Additionally, the bill aims to increase transparency in schools by requiring them to make all instructional materials available for review by parents. This would give parents the opportunity to see exactly what their child is being taught and address any concerns they may have. Another important aspect of the bill is the establishment of a process for parents to file complaints about curriculum content they find objectionable. Schools would be required to investigate these complaints and take appropriate action to address any valid concerns raised by parents. Overall, the Empower Parents to Protect Their Kids Act of 2022 seeks to empower parents to take a more active role in their child's education and ensure that they have a voice in what their child is learning. It remains to be seen how this bill will be received by Congress and whether it will ultimately become law.
