TREAT PTSD Act

Bill 119 HR 1947, also known as the Stellate Ganglion Block for PTSD Treatment Act, aims to provide stellate ganglion block (SGB) treatment to veterans and members of the Armed Forces who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This treatment involves injecting a local anesthetic into the stellate ganglion, a cluster of nerves in the neck, to help alleviate symptoms of PTSD.

The bill directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and the Secretary of Defense to ensure that SGB treatment is made available to those who can benefit from it. It also requires the Secretaries to conduct research and collect data on the effectiveness of SGB treatment for PTSD.

In addition to providing SGB treatment, the bill includes provisions for training healthcare providers on how to administer the treatment and for ensuring that veterans and service members have access to mental health services and support.
