Summary of Bill HR 1808
Bill 119 hr 1808, also known as the Working Waterfronts Act, aims to amend the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972 by establishing a working waterfronts Task Force and creating grant and loan programs to support working waterfronts.
The bill recognizes the importance of working waterfronts, which are areas where commercial fishing, marine industries, and other water-dependent businesses operate. These waterfronts play a crucial role in supporting local economies and preserving cultural heritage.
The Working Waterfronts Task Force will be responsible for identifying challenges facing working waterfronts and developing strategies to address them. The grant and loan programs established by the bill will provide financial assistance to working waterfronts to help them thrive and remain viable. Overall, the Working Waterfronts Act seeks to support and protect working waterfronts, ensuring that these important areas continue to contribute to the economic and cultural fabric of coastal communities across the United States.
