Summary of Bill S 1202

The Keep Our PACT Act, also known as Bill 118 s 1202, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to ensure that the federal government fulfills its obligations to provide funding for public education.

The bill specifically addresses the issue of the Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program, which provides funding to local governments to offset the loss of property tax revenue due to the presence of federal lands within their jurisdictions. The Keep Our PACT Act seeks to fully fund the PILT program and ensure that local governments receive the financial support they need to provide essential services to their communities.

In addition to addressing the PILT program, the bill also aims to increase funding for Impact Aid, which provides financial assistance to school districts that educate children from military families or children living on federal land. By increasing funding for Impact Aid, the Keep Our PACT Act aims to support schools that serve these unique populations and ensure that all students have access to a quality education. Overall, the Keep Our PACT Act is focused on ensuring that the federal government fulfills its commitments to provide funding for public education and support local governments in their efforts to provide essential services to their communities. The bill is currently being debated in Congress, and its passage would have a significant impact on the funding available for public education across the country.
