Summary of Bill HR 8753
Bill 118 hr 8753, also known as the "ZIP Code Designation Act," aims to direct the United States Postal Service (USPS) to assign single, unique ZIP Codes to specific communities. This legislation is intended to streamline mail delivery and improve efficiency within the postal system.
The bill proposes that certain communities, which may currently share ZIP Codes with neighboring areas, be given their own distinct ZIP Codes. This would help to prevent confusion and ensure that mail is accurately delivered to the correct locations.
In addition to the primary goal of creating unique ZIP Codes for designated communities, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to postal service operations. These additional purposes may include addressing issues such as mail sorting, delivery routes, and postal service infrastructure. Overall, the ZIP Code Designation Act seeks to enhance the effectiveness and reliability of the USPS by providing clear and specific ZIP Codes for certain communities. This legislation aims to improve the efficiency of mail delivery and ensure that postal services meet the needs of all Americans.
