REPLACE Act

3/12/2025, 2:38 AM

Summary of Bill S 566

Bill 119 s 566, also known as the Disaster Recovery Reform Act of 2018, is a proposed amendment that aims to make it easier for individuals and households affected by major disasters to receive assistance. The bill specifically focuses on waiving certain critical document fees for those who are receiving aid through the Individuals and Households program.

Under the current law, individuals and households affected by disasters must pay fees for critical documents such as birth certificates, marriage licenses, and other important paperwork in order to receive assistance. This can create a financial burden for those who are already struggling to recover from the devastation of a disaster.

The proposed amendment would require the President to automatically waive these fees for individuals and households affected by major disasters for which assistance is provided under the Individuals and Households program. This would help streamline the process for those in need of assistance and ensure that they are able to access the help they require without additional financial strain. Overall, Bill 119 s 566 seeks to improve the efficiency and accessibility of disaster recovery assistance for individuals and households in need, by removing barriers such as critical document fees. This amendment aims to provide much-needed support to those who have been impacted by major disasters and help them on the path to recovery.

I don't like this bill. It's not fair for people to get special treatment. It's not right.
