Congressional Summary of S 1024
Seizure Awareness and Preparedness Act
This bill directs the Department of Education to award competitive grants to states and, through them, subgrants to local educational agencies (LEAs) for carrying out a program that supports elementary and secondary students who have epilepsy or a seizure disorder. Specifically, LEAs must use these subgrants to train school personnel on seizure awareness and preparedness that covers individualized health care plans and individualized emergency health care plans for students who have epilepsy or a seizure disorder.
