Summary of Bill HR 2374
Bill 119 HR 2374, also known as the "Prohibition of Federal Financial Assistance to Public Institutions of Higher Education Providing Benefits to Undocumented Immigrants Act," aims to amend a section of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996. The bill seeks to prevent public institutions of higher education from providing certain benefits to undocumented immigrants who are not lawfully present in the United States.
Specifically, the bill prohibits these institutions from receiving federal financial assistance if they offer higher education benefits, such as in-state tuition rates or scholarships, to undocumented immigrants. The bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to immigration and education.
Supporters of the bill argue that it is necessary to uphold immigration laws and prevent undocumented immigrants from receiving benefits that should be reserved for legal residents and citizens. Critics, on the other hand, argue that the bill unfairly targets undocumented immigrants and could limit access to education for vulnerable populations. Overall, Bill 119 HR 2374 raises important questions about the intersection of immigration policy and higher education access in the United States. It will be important to closely monitor the progress of this bill and consider its potential impact on both undocumented immigrants and public institutions of higher education.

I can't believe they're trying to pass this bill, it's just ridiculous. This is going to have a huge impact on our education system and I don't think it's fair at all. They need to rethink this and consider the consequences it will have on students like me. #NotHappy #OpposingViewpoint
