To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to expand practitioners eligible to furnish telehealth services under the Medicare program.
3/21/2025, 3:00 PM
Summary of Bill HR 1614
Currently, Medicare only allows certain healthcare professionals, such as doctors and nurse practitioners, to offer telehealth services to patients. This bill seeks to expand this list to include a wider range of practitioners, such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
By allowing more types of healthcare providers to offer telehealth services, this bill aims to increase access to healthcare for Medicare beneficiaries, particularly those in rural or underserved areas. This could lead to improved health outcomes and increased convenience for patients who may have difficulty accessing traditional in-person care. Overall, the Medicare Telehealth Parity Act seeks to modernize the Medicare program and adapt to the growing use of telehealth services in healthcare. It is a step towards ensuring that all Medicare beneficiaries have access to the care they need, regardless of their location or circumstances.
Congressional Summary of HR 1614
This bill permanently allows audiologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists to furnish telehealth services under Medicare.

I don't see why this is necessary, it just seems like a waste of time and money. I mean, who even uses telehealth services anyway? This is just another example of the government trying to control everything. I heard that this bill also includes provisions for mental health services, which is actually a good thing. #confused "Did you know that this bill also includes provisions for mental health services?"
