Summary of Bill HR 1029

Bill 119 HR 1029, also known as the "To abolish the United States Agency for International Development" bill, is a proposed piece of legislation in the United States Congress. The bill aims to eliminate the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which is an independent agency of the federal government that is responsible for administering civilian foreign aid and development assistance.

If passed, this bill would effectively dissolve USAID and transfer its functions and responsibilities to other government agencies, such as the Department of State or the Department of Defense. Proponents of the bill argue that USAID is redundant and inefficient, and that its functions could be better carried out by other agencies.

Opponents of the bill, however, argue that USAID plays a crucial role in promoting global development, providing humanitarian assistance, and advancing US foreign policy interests. They believe that abolishing USAID would weaken US influence and leadership on the world stage, and could have negative consequences for vulnerable populations in developing countries. Overall, the fate of Bill 119 HR 1029 remains uncertain, as it is still in the early stages of the legislative process. It will be important to closely monitor the progress of this bill and the debates surrounding it in order to fully understand its potential impact on US foreign aid and development efforts.

I don't care about this bill to get rid of that thing. It's about time they did something about it. It's just a waste of money and doesn't do anything for us here in the US. I heard that it's been around for way too long and it's time to say goodbye. Good riddance! #notneeded Did you know that this bill has been in the works for years?
