Hispanic Educational Resources and Empowerment Act of 2022

This bill directs the Department of Education to (1) award grants to Hispanic-serving institutions of higher education (IHEs) to improve and expand innovative collaboration agreements between local educational agencies and IHEs to better serve Hispanic and Latino students, (2) provide technical assistance to such IHEs, and (3) contract with a third party to conduct an independent evaluation of grant activities.

Such grants must be used for specific activities, such as improving school-based and institutional practices to prepare students for postsecondary education and addressing nonacademic needs of students that are barriers to college enrollment.

Bill 117 HR 7454, also known as the Hispanic Educational Resources and Empowerment Act of 2022, aims to provide support and resources to Hispanic students in the United States. The bill focuses on improving educational outcomes for Hispanic students by increasing access to high-quality education, promoting cultural awareness, and empowering Hispanic communities.

One key aspect of the bill is the establishment of grant programs to support Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs) and other institutions that serve a high percentage of Hispanic students. These grants will be used to enhance educational programs, improve facilities, and provide support services to help Hispanic students succeed academically.

Additionally, the bill includes provisions to increase funding for bilingual education programs, expand access to college readiness programs, and promote the recruitment and retention of Hispanic teachers and administrators in schools. The goal is to create a more inclusive and supportive educational environment for Hispanic students, ultimately leading to improved academic achievement and graduation rates. Overall, the Hispanic Educational Resources and Empowerment Act of 2022 seeks to address the unique challenges faced by Hispanic students in the US education system and provide them with the resources and support they need to succeed. By investing in the education and empowerment of Hispanic students, the bill aims to create a more equitable and inclusive educational system for all students.
