A veteran Canadian diplomat, Ambassador Waschuk served as ambassador to Serbia, with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Macedonia and Montenegro, and was that country's longest-serving Ambassador to Ukraine, performing the duty of Canada’s envoy to Ukraine during a turbulent time in that nation’s history (2014-2019). Adrian Karatnycky is a senior fellow with the Atlantic Council's Program on Transatlantic Relations and managing partner of Myrmidon Group LLC, a NY-based consultancy that works with investors seeking entry into the complex emerging markets of Ukraine and Eastern Europe. He is a founder and co-director of the Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter. From 1993 to 2004, he was president and executive director of Freedom House, during which time he developed programs of assistance to democratic and human rights movements in Belarus, Serbia, Russia, and Ukraine. On Wednesday-Thursday, June 17-18, the Center for US-Ukrainian Relations, the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, and the American Foreign Policy Council convened the eighth annual US-UA Working Group Summit: Providing Ukraine with an Annual Report Card. This online conference assessed Ukraine’s progress on various fronts, levying a final grade based on the contributing of over two dozen speakers.
