At a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Ranking Member of the Personnel Subcommittee, raised her concerns to General Christopher J. Mahoney, nominee to be Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on the growing costs associated with using the military to perform law enforcement duties. If confirmed, General Mahoney would be responsible for overseeing joint military requirements and making recommendations.
