Video Description
Today, Ranking Republican of the House Committee on Natural Resources Rob Bishop (R-Utah) addressed the short comings of the Hardrock Leasing and Reclamation Act (H.R. 2579) being considered during the scheduled Full Committee Markup. The legislation would have serious ramifications for critical mineral production and domestic supply. In order to develop modern weapons systems, solar panels, wind turbines, batteries for electric vehicles, and smart phones, the U.S. must prioritize domestic investment in our hardrock industry. Failing to will result in outsourcing extraction and production to foreign countries with dubious standards to safeguard their workers and environment, while making us susceptible to oversea adversaries like China and Russia.
