2/11/2025, 5:53 AM
Summary of Bill S 95
Bill 119 s 95, also known as the "Marine Corps Recruit Depot Preservation Act," aims to prevent the closure or realignment of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot located at Parris Island, South Carolina. The bill specifically prohibits the use of Federal funds for any actions that would result in the closure or realignment of this important military installation.
The Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island has a long history of training and preparing new recruits for service in the United States Marine Corps. Supporters of the bill argue that closing or realigning this facility would have negative impacts on the local community, as well as on the readiness and effectiveness of the Marine Corps.
The bill has garnered bipartisan support in Congress, with lawmakers from both parties recognizing the importance of preserving the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island. Proponents of the bill argue that maintaining this facility is crucial for national security and for the well-being of the Marines who train there. If passed, Bill 119 s 95 would ensure that Federal funds are not used to close or realign the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, South Carolina, thereby protecting the future of this vital military installation.

I don't understand why they want to close Parris Island. This is so sad. I heard that this bill is trying to stop it, but I'm not sure. It's just not right. #SaveParrisIsland
