I don't understand why this bill is necessary. It seems like a violation of privacy rights to have a public database of individuals with convictions for violent crimes. How will this affect me and my family?

I heard about this new law, Logan's Law, but I'm not exactly sure what it's all about. Sounds like it could be a good thing though. Can someone fill me in on the details? Thanks!
