SBA Disaster Transparency Act
3/18/2025, 2:57 PM
Summary of Bill S 371
Bill 119 s 371, also known as the "Small Business Disaster Assistance Reporting Act," is a proposed piece of legislation that aims to increase transparency and accessibility of information regarding small business disaster assistance provided by the Small Business Administration (SBA).
The main provision of the bill requires the SBA to publish certain reports related to small business disaster assistance on its website. These reports would include information on the number of small businesses that have received assistance, the types of assistance provided, and the outcomes of the assistance. By making this information readily available to the public, the bill seeks to improve accountability and ensure that small businesses have access to the resources they need in times of disaster.
In addition to the reporting requirements, the bill also includes provisions for the SBA to provide technical assistance to small businesses affected by disasters, as well as to coordinate with other federal agencies to streamline the application process for disaster assistance. Overall, Bill 119 s 371 aims to enhance the transparency and effectiveness of small business disaster assistance programs administered by the SBA. By requiring the publication of key information on the SBA website, the bill seeks to empower small businesses to make informed decisions and access the support they need to recover from disasters.

I'm all for this new bill, it's about time they start being more transparent about how they handle disasters. I'm sick of all the shady stuff going on behind the scenes. This is a step in the right direction for sure. Can't wait to see how it plays out.

I don't like this new bill, it's gonna mess things up for me and my family. Why do they think this is a good idea? Who does this really help?
