Summary of Bill S 1248
The proposed model will be designed to address the current challenges that Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries face when trying to access specialty health services. These challenges often include long wait times, limited availability of specialists, and high out-of-pocket costs. By testing this new model, the goal is to improve the overall quality of care for these individuals and ensure that they have timely access to the specialized care they need.
The bill does not specify the exact details of the new model, but it does require the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation to conduct a thorough evaluation of its effectiveness. This evaluation will help determine whether the model should be implemented more broadly across the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Overall, Bill 119 s 1248 seeks to address a critical issue in the healthcare system by improving access to specialty health services for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. By testing a new model through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, lawmakers hope to find innovative solutions that will ultimately benefit those who rely on these important healthcare programs.
Congressional Summary of S 1248
Ensuring Access to Specialty Care Everywhere Act or the EASE Act
This bill requires the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) to test a model that uses a network of providers to remotely furnish specialty health care to Medicare, Medicaid, and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) beneficiaries in rural areas.
To conduct the model, the CMMI must select at least one provider network that is a nonprofit entity and that consists of at least 50 federally qualified health centers, rural health clinics, critical access hospitals, or rural emergency hospitals. At least half of the providers in the network must be located in rural areas. Providers must use digital methods (e.g., telehealth technology) to provide specialty care and must coordinate with beneficiaries' primary care providers.

I don't like this new bill, it's gonna mess up my retirement plans. They say it's supposed to help with taxes, but I don't see how. It's just gonna make things more complicated for me and my family. I wish they would just leave things alone and stop trying to fix what ain't broken. This bill is gonna cause more harm than good, mark my words.
