3/4/2026, 9:06 AM

Summary of Bill S 1070

Bill 119 s 1070, also known as the National STEM Week Act, aims to create a National STEM Week in order to boost American innovation and improve STEM education opportunities for students across the country, particularly those in rural, urban, and underserved communities. The bill seeks to highlight the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields in driving economic growth and preparing students for the jobs of the future.

The National STEM Week would be a designated week each year where schools, businesses, and organizations would come together to promote STEM education and provide hands-on learning experiences for students. The goal is to inspire more young people to pursue careers in STEM fields and to ensure that all students have access to high-quality STEM education, regardless of their background or location.

By establishing a National STEM Week, supporters of the bill hope to increase awareness of the importance of STEM education, encourage collaboration between schools and businesses, and ultimately help to close the achievement gap in STEM fields. The bill emphasizes the need for a diverse and inclusive STEM workforce that reflects the rich diversity of the United States. Overall, the National STEM Week Act aims to foster a culture of innovation and creativity in American society, while also ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed in STEM fields. It represents a bipartisan effort to support STEM education and prepare the next generation of American innovators.
