Aviation Funding Stability Act of 2025
4/3/2025, 1:23 PM
Summary of Bill S 1045
Bill 119 s 1045, also known as the "Airport and Airway Trust Fund Government Shutdown Protection Act," aims to ensure that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) can continue its operations in the event of a government shutdown. The bill proposes that funding for all FAA activities be provided from the Airport and Airway Trust Fund during a government shutdown.
The Airport and Airway Trust Fund is a dedicated fund that collects taxes on airline tickets, aviation fuel, and other aviation-related fees to support FAA operations and infrastructure projects. By utilizing this fund during a government shutdown, the bill seeks to prevent disruptions in air traffic control, airport safety inspections, and other critical FAA functions.
In addition to ensuring continued funding for the FAA during a government shutdown, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to aviation safety and security. These provisions are aimed at maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of the FAA's operations, even in challenging circumstances. Overall, Bill 119 s 1045 is designed to protect the essential functions of the FAA and ensure the safety and efficiency of the nation's aviation system, particularly during times of political gridlock and funding uncertainty.
