American CANS Act
3/5/2025, 5:08 AM
Summary of Bill HR 914
Bill 119 hr 914, also known as the Country-of-Origin Labeling for Canned Agricultural Products Act, aims to amend the Tariff Act of 1930 to require that country-of-origin labeling for any agricultural product packaged in a can must be prominently displayed on the front label or top of the can. This bill is designed to provide consumers with clear and easily accessible information about where their canned agricultural products come from.
The bill does not specify any particular requirements for the content of the country-of-origin labeling, but simply mandates that it be placed in a visible location on the can. This information can help consumers make informed decisions about the products they purchase, as some may prefer to buy products that are produced domestically or in certain countries.
In addition to the country-of-origin labeling requirement, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes, although the specific details of these provisions are not outlined in the summary. Overall, the Country-of-Origin Labeling for Canned Agricultural Products Act seeks to enhance transparency and consumer awareness in the agricultural product market.
