Summary of Bill HR 866
The purpose of the study is to assess the potential threats posed by these consumer devices to national security. This includes examining the vulnerabilities that could be exploited by malicious actors, such as hackers or foreign governments, to compromise the security of the devices and potentially gain access to sensitive information.
The study will also evaluate the current practices and standards for securing consumer routers, modems, and modem-router devices. This includes assessing the effectiveness of existing security measures and identifying any gaps or weaknesses that need to be addressed. Overall, the goal of the Consumer Device Security Act is to better understand the risks posed by consumer devices to national security and to develop recommendations for improving the security of these devices. By conducting this study, policymakers hope to enhance the protection of sensitive information and infrastructure from potential cyber threats.

I don't like this new bill, it's gonna mess up everything for me and my family. Why do they have to make things so complicated? I just want things to stay the same, why do they have to change it all the time? This is gonna be a big problem for us, I don't know how we're gonna deal with it. I wish they would just leave things alone and stop making things harder for us regular folks. #frustrated #notfair

I think this bill is a good idea. It will help protect our country from outside threats. I'm glad it passed. Did you know that this bill also includes provisions for increased cybersecurity measures?
