2/20/2025, 4:12 PM

Summary of Bill HR 634

Bill 119 hr 634, also known as the "Ninth Circuit Reorganization Act of 2021," aims to make significant changes to the federal judiciary system in the United States. The bill proposes amending title 28 of the United States Code to allow for the appointment of additional Federal circuit judges. This would help alleviate the heavy caseloads currently burdening the federal courts.

One of the key provisions of the bill is the division of the Ninth Judicial Circuit of the United States into two separate judicial circuits. The Ninth Circuit is currently the largest federal circuit in the country, covering nine western states and two territories. By splitting the Ninth Circuit into two circuits, it is hoped that the workload of judges in the region will be more manageable and cases can be processed more efficiently.

In addition to these major changes, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to the federal judiciary system. These may include updates to court procedures, changes to the jurisdiction of certain courts, or other reforms aimed at improving the functioning of the federal judiciary. Overall, Bill 119 hr 634 represents a significant effort to address the challenges facing the federal judiciary system, particularly in the Ninth Circuit. By appointing additional judges and dividing the circuit into two, the bill aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the federal courts in the United States.
