IVF for Military Families Act
4/9/2025, 3:53 AM
Summary of Bill HR 2557
Bill 119 HR 2557, also known as the "TRICARE Fertility Treatment Act," aims to amend title 10 of the United States Code to allow for fertility treatment to be covered under the TRICARE Program. TRICARE is the healthcare program for uniformed service members, retirees, and their families.
Currently, TRICARE does not cover fertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) or other assisted reproductive technologies. This bill seeks to change that by expanding the coverage to include these types of treatments for eligible beneficiaries.
The bill recognizes the importance of providing access to fertility treatments for service members and their families who may be struggling with infertility. By allowing TRICARE to cover these services, it aims to alleviate the financial burden that can come with seeking fertility treatment. If passed, this bill would provide much-needed support to military families facing infertility issues and would bring TRICARE in line with many other healthcare programs that already cover fertility treatments. Overall, the TRICARE Fertility Treatment Act is a step towards ensuring that service members and their families have access to comprehensive healthcare services, including fertility treatments.
