Cormorant Relief Act of 2025
12/13/2025, 3:08 AM
Summary of Bill HR 2293
Bill 119 hr 2293, also known as the Double-Crested Cormorant Management and Control Act, aims to address the issue of double-crested cormorants causing damage to aquaculture facilities. The bill requires the Secretary of the Interior to reissue certain regulations related to the taking of double-crested cormorants at these facilities.
The double-crested cormorant is a bird species that has been known to cause significant damage to aquaculture facilities by preying on fish stocks. This has led to economic losses for aquaculture operators, who rely on these fish for their livelihood.
The bill seeks to provide a solution to this problem by allowing for the taking of double-crested cormorants at aquaculture facilities. This means that aquaculture operators would be permitted to legally remove these birds from their facilities in order to protect their fish stocks. By reissuing regulations related to the taking of double-crested cormorants, the Secretary of the Interior would be able to provide clear guidelines for how aquaculture operators can manage this issue in a responsible and sustainable manner. Overall, Bill 119 hr 2293 aims to strike a balance between protecting the interests of aquaculture operators and ensuring the conservation of the double-crested cormorant population. It addresses a specific problem faced by the aquaculture industry and provides a targeted solution to help mitigate the damage caused by these birds.

I heard about this new bill, HR Bill 2293 Cormorant Relief Act of 2025, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's supposed to help with cormorant populations, but I'm not sure if it's the right approach. I mean, cormorants can be a nuisance, but I'm not sure if this bill is the best way to deal with them. I need to do more research on this before I can form a solid opinion. #HRBill2293 #CormorantReliefAct #Politics #USA
