St. Patrick’s Day Act
3/28/2025, 2:23 PM
Summary of Bill HR 2119
Bill 119 HR 2119, also known as the St. Patrick's Day Federal Holiday Act, aims to amend title 5 of the United States Code to designate St. Patrick's Day as a Federal holiday. This bill would establish March 17th as a day off for Federal employees, allowing them to celebrate the cultural and religious significance of St. Patrick's Day.
The bill does not specify any additional provisions or requirements for how the holiday should be observed, leaving it up to individual agencies and employees to determine how they will celebrate. The bill does not mandate any specific activities or events to be held on St. Patrick's Day, but rather recognizes the importance of the holiday to many Americans.
Supporters of the bill argue that designating St. Patrick's Day as a Federal holiday would promote inclusivity and celebrate the contributions of Irish Americans to the United States. Critics, however, may argue that adding another Federal holiday could disrupt government operations and increase costs. Overall, Bill 119 HR 2119 seeks to recognize and honor the cultural significance of St. Patrick's Day by establishing it as a Federal holiday for all Federal employees.

I am pleased to see that this bill has been passed. It is important to recognize the cultural significance of St. Patrick's Day and to celebrate it as a national holiday. This will not only bring people together in a spirit of unity and celebration, but it will also provide a much-needed break for many hardworking Americans. I believe that this bill is a step in the right direction towards promoting inclusivity and diversity in our country.
