Summary of Bill HR 1860

Bill 119 hr 1860, also known as the Regional Breast and Gynecologic Cancer Care Coordinators Act, aims to improve the care and support provided to veterans with breast and gynecologic cancers within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The bill proposes the designation of Regional Breast and Gynecologic Cancer Care Coordinators who will work to expand the existing Breast and Gynecologic Oncology System of Excellence at the VA.

These coordinators will be responsible for ensuring that veterans receive comprehensive and coordinated care for their breast and gynecologic cancers. They will work to improve communication and collaboration among healthcare providers, streamline the referral process, and provide support and resources to veterans and their families throughout their cancer treatment journey.

In addition to expanding the existing system of excellence, the bill also aims to enhance research and data collection related to breast and gynecologic cancers among veterans. This will help to improve the understanding of these cancers within the veteran population and inform future treatment and care strategies. Overall, the Regional Breast and Gynecologic Cancer Care Coordinators Act seeks to improve the quality of care and support provided to veterans with breast and gynecologic cancers within the VA system. By designating specialized coordinators and enhancing research efforts, the bill aims to ensure that veterans receive the best possible care for these types of cancers.
