Summary of Bill HR 1711
Bill 119 hr 1711, also known as the "Homeland Security Intelligence and Analysis Audit Act," aims to amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 by directing the Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis of the Department of Homeland Security to conduct an annual audit of the information systems and bulk data of the Office of Intelligence and Analysis within the Department.
The purpose of this bill is to ensure that the information systems and bulk data used by the Office of Intelligence and Analysis are being properly managed and secured. By conducting an annual audit, the Department of Homeland Security can identify any potential vulnerabilities or weaknesses in their systems and take appropriate measures to address them.
The bill does not specify the exact details of how the audit will be conducted, but it does require that the Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis submit a report to Congress detailing the findings of the audit and any actions taken in response to the audit results. Overall, the "Homeland Security Intelligence and Analysis Audit Act" is aimed at improving the cybersecurity and data management practices within the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Intelligence and Analysis to better protect national security interests.

I fully support this bill as it will provide much needed oversight and transparency to the Department of Homeland Security's Intelligence and Analysis division. It is crucial for the government to be held accountable for their actions in order to protect our national security. One little known detail about this bill is that it was introduced by Representative Val Demings from Florida.
