5/12/2025, 10:49 PM

Summary of Bill HR 1451

Bill 119 hr 1451, also known as the Quapaw Nation Settlement Agreement Act, authorizes the Secretary of the Treasury to make payments to the Quapaw Nation and certain members of the Quapaw Nation as recommended by the United States Court of Federal Claims. The bill aims to settle a longstanding legal dispute between the Quapaw Nation and the federal government.

The Quapaw Nation, a Native American tribe located in Oklahoma, has been involved in a legal battle with the federal government over claims related to land and resources. The United States Court of Federal Claims has recommended that the federal government make payments to the Quapaw Nation and its members to settle these claims.

In addition to authorizing payments, the bill also includes provisions for the implementation of the settlement agreement and outlines the process for distributing the funds to the Quapaw Nation and its members. The bill is intended to provide a resolution to the legal dispute and ensure that the Quapaw Nation receives the compensation they are entitled to. Overall, Bill 119 hr 1451 seeks to address the grievances of the Quapaw Nation and provide a fair and just resolution to the longstanding legal dispute between the tribe and the federal government.
