Summary of Bill HR 1409

Bill 119 HR 1409, also known as the Skills for Success Act, aims to establish a grant program through the Department of Education. This program would provide funding for skills-for-success courses for all first-year students at specific institutions of higher education.

By focusing on essential skills such as critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving, students will be better prepared to navigate the challenges of higher education and the workforce.

The grant program outlined in the bill would provide financial support to institutions that choose to implement these skills-for-success courses for their first-year students. This funding would help cover the costs associated with developing and offering these courses, ensuring that all students have access to this valuable educational opportunity. Overall, the Skills for Success Act seeks to improve the educational outcomes and career prospects of students by investing in their foundational skills. By supporting the implementation of skills-for-success courses at certain institutions of higher education, this bill aims to empower students to achieve their full potential and succeed in their academic and professional endeavors.
