SASS Act

3/14/2025, 12:43 PM

Summary of Bill HR 1334

Bill 119 hr 1334, also known as the "Single Application for School Security Grant Program Act," aims to streamline the process for schools seeking funding for security measures. Currently, schools must submit separate applications to both the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Director and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Director in order to be considered for matching grants for school security.

This bill proposes that schools be allowed to submit a single application to either the COPS Director or the BJA Director, rather than having to submit two separate applications. This would make it easier and more efficient for schools to apply for funding to improve security measures on their campuses.

By simplifying the application process, the hope is that more schools will be able to access the funding they need to enhance security and ensure the safety of their students and staff. This bill is a bipartisan effort to support schools in their efforts to create a secure learning environment for all.
