Summary of Bill S 5340

Bill 118 s 5340, also known as the "Wrongful Detention Prevention Act," aims to give the US government more ways to prevent state and non-state actors from unlawfully detaining American citizens for political reasons. The bill seeks to address the growing issue of foreign governments and organizations using the detention of US nationals as a bargaining tool or leverage in negotiations.

It also mandates the creation of a public database to track and report on cases of Americans being unlawfully detained abroad. I don't like this new bill, it's not good for us. Did you know it has a provision about protecting the rights of individuals in detention centers?
