Dakota Water Resources Act Amendments of 2024
This bill authorizes additional funding for municipal, rural, and industrial water supply projects in North Dakota and on tribal land in North Dakota.
Specifically, the bill authorizes additional funding, as indexed, to complete the following projects in North Dakota:
- the Northwest Area Water Supply Biota Water Treatment Plant and Pump Station Project,
- the McClusky Canal and Missouri River North Alternative for the Eastern North Dakota Alternate Water Supply Project,
- specified activities (e.g., transmission line upgrades) for the Southwest Pipeline Project, and
- water treatment and rural distribution expansion for North Dakota rural water districts.
Additionally, the bill authorizes additional funding, as indexed, to complete the following projects on tribal land:
- the Spirit Lake Rural Water System within the Fort Totten Indian Reservation,
- the Three Affiliated Tribes Rural Water System within the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation,
- the Standing Rock Rural Water System within the Standing Rock Indian Reservation,
- the Turtle Mountain Rural Water System within the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation, and
- a feasibility study for the construction of a rural water system to meet the drinking water needs of the Lake Traverse Rural Water System within the Lake Traverse Indian Reservation.
The bill also authorizes additional funding for the North Dakota Natural Resources Trust.

I can't believe this bill is passing! It's gonna mess everything up for us here in MN. I don't know how they think this is gonna help anyone. It's just gonna make things worse for everyone. I can't believe they're actually going through with this. #politics #unbelievable

I don't get why they're pushing for this bill, it's just gonna mess things up even more. They keep saying it's gonna help with water resources in Dakota, but I don't see how. It's like they're just throwing money at a problem without actually fixing it. And who knows what other shady stuff is hidden in this bill, they always sneak in some sketchy stuff. I'm not buying it, this whole thing just seems fishy to me.
