5/3/2024, 10:56 AM
Summary of Bill S 4252
Bill 118 s 4252, also known as the Livestock Indemnity Payment Program Enhancement Act, is a proposed amendment to the Agricultural Act of 2014. The main purpose of this bill is to provide additional financial support for unborn livestock under the existing Livestock Indemnity Payment Program.
The Livestock Indemnity Payment Program is a federal program that provides financial assistance to farmers and ranchers who have experienced livestock losses due to natural disasters or other qualifying events. This program currently provides payments to producers for the death of adult livestock, but does not currently cover unborn livestock.
If passed, Bill 118 s 4252 would expand the program to include payments for unborn livestock that are lost due to the same qualifying events that are covered for adult livestock. This would provide additional financial support to producers who experience losses of unborn livestock, such as calves or lambs, due to natural disasters like wildfires, floods, or severe weather. Overall, the Livestock Indemnity Payment Program Enhancement Act aims to provide more comprehensive support to farmers and ranchers who experience losses of livestock, including unborn animals. This bill is currently under consideration in the US Congress and has the potential to impact the agricultural industry by providing additional financial assistance to producers in times of need.
