Summary of Bill S 2522

The ABLE MATCH (Making Able a Tool to Combat Hardship) Act, also known as Bill 118 s 2522, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to enhance the effectiveness of the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act, which was passed in 2014 to help individuals with disabilities save money for disability-related expenses without jeopardizing their eligibility for government assistance programs.

The ABLE MATCH Act seeks to improve the ABLE Act by allowing individuals with disabilities to receive matching contributions from their employers or other third parties into their ABLE accounts. This would help individuals with disabilities save more money for their future needs and increase their financial security.

Additionally, the bill aims to expand the types of expenses that can be paid for using funds from an ABLE account. This includes expenses related to education, housing, transportation, employment training, and assistive technology. By broadening the scope of eligible expenses, the ABLE MATCH Act would provide individuals with disabilities greater flexibility in how they can use their savings to improve their quality of life. Overall, the ABLE MATCH Act is designed to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve greater financial independence and security. By enhancing the ABLE Act and expanding the opportunities for individuals with disabilities to save and invest in their future, this legislation aims to combat hardship and improve the overall well-being of this population.
