3/8/2024, 3:54 PM
Summary of Bill S 2245
Bill 118 s 2245, also known as the Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act of 2023, aims to address the disparities in lung cancer research and preventive services for women. The bill recognizes that lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in the United States, and that there is a lack of gender-specific research and preventive measures in place.
The key provisions of the bill include funding for research specifically focused on the impact of lung cancer on women, as well as the development of preventive services tailored to the needs of female patients. The bill also calls for increased awareness and education campaigns to inform women about the risks of lung cancer and the importance of early detection.
Additionally, the bill seeks to improve access to screening and treatment options for women, particularly those from underserved communities who may face barriers to care. This includes provisions for expanding Medicaid coverage for lung cancer screenings and ensuring that all women have access to affordable and comprehensive healthcare services. Overall, the Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act of 2023 aims to address the gender disparities in lung cancer research and care, and to improve outcomes for women at risk of or affected by this deadly disease.
