Summary of Bill S 2203
The ARROW Act, also known as Bill 118 s 2203, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to address the issue of gun violence in America by implementing a number of measures aimed at improving the background check system for firearm purchases.
One of the key provisions of the ARROW Act is the requirement for all gun buyers to undergo a comprehensive background check before being able to purchase a firearm. This includes checks on criminal history, mental health records, and other relevant information that may indicate a potential risk for violence.
Additionally, the bill seeks to improve the reporting of mental health records to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) in order to prevent individuals with mental health issues from obtaining firearms. This is seen as a crucial step in reducing the likelihood of gun violence in the country. Furthermore, the ARROW Act includes provisions for increased funding for law enforcement agencies to enforce existing gun laws and crack down on illegal gun trafficking. This is intended to help prevent guns from falling into the hands of criminals and other dangerous individuals. Overall, the ARROW Act is a comprehensive piece of legislation aimed at addressing the issue of gun violence in America through improved background checks, better reporting of mental health records, and increased enforcement of existing gun laws. It is currently being debated in Congress and has the potential to make a significant impact on reducing gun violence in the country.
